RAN Sea Hawk over HMAS Sydney.

Limited edition of 50.

You can smell the salt air and feel the breeze in this lively painting of one of the RAN’s Sikorsky S70b Seahawks.

As with the others in the artist’s series of Naval subjects, this painting was originally produced to help raise funds for the Australian Naval Aviation Museum (now Australia’s Museum of Flight)– reproductions of it being sold at the Museum’s Air Days.

The highly sophisticated and very expensively equipped Sea Hawk was an adaptation of Sikorsky’s original Black Hawk design for the US Army and for the US Navy’s FFG’s. The Australian S70b, delivered in 1988, differs from the American S60b in its avionics and other weapons systems. HMAS Adelaide, Canberra, Sydney and Darwin operate these seaborne helicopters.
