Limited edition of 50. A brilliant pictorial study of two Skyhawks of 805 Sqdn RAN, seen against the glare of a golden sunset . This was the second of two Skyhawk paintings completed by the artist at about the same time. The original painting from which this reproduction was made, is owned by an ex-Skyhawk pilot. The other, shown in this catalogue, hangs in Australias Museum of Flight. The Skyhawk replaced the deHavilland Sea Venom aboard HMAS Melbourne but now the unforgettable Skyhawk era has closed for the RAN. The aircraft, including the two shown in the reproduction, were sold to New Zealand in 1982. Ironically, the ex-RAN, now RNZAF, machines can be seen operating with Australian Defence Forces from HMAS Albatross, their old shore base. |
