One of Australia’s most noted flights is brilliantly illustrated in this fine painting. The importance of the trail-blazing flight across Australia from Point Cook to Darwin by a Be2e was eclipsed by the arrival in Darwin of the winner of the Greatest Air Race, from England to Australia–the winning Vickers Vimy is seen below the little Be2e as she banks steeply over it in Darwin. Among those who contributed to this great flight were those hardy souls who charted the route on the ground through inhospitable territory.
